Live Link · Payment reports
A clearer balance.
A simpler “I’ve paid.”
Share the balance in a browser. Let the other person report a payment. You review it in You Owe Me and decide what enters the record.
No app or account needed to view or report. Works in the recipient’s browser, including Android.

Start with the shared view
One link instead of
another screenshot.
You keep one clear record in You Owe Me. The other person opens a Live Link to see the published balance and transaction history without installing anything.
Useful for roommate bills, family reimbursements, a partner’s shared costs, or a client balance. The same link can show updated records as you publish changes.
An optional reply to the balance
They report a payment.
You review it.
Turn on payment reports for a person’s regular balance, rather than a Loan Record, when you want them to tell you what they paid.
Enable and invite
In the iPhone app, open the normal balance Live Link, enable Allow payment reports, then share the reporting invitation.
They send the details
In their browser, the recipient enters a positive amount, a payment date, and an optional note. The currency follows the shared balance.
You choose what to record
Review the report in You Owe Me. It describes a payment from the recipient to you; sending it alone leaves your balance unchanged.
Reporting is optional for each link. Previously shared view-only URLs stay view-only; send the reporting invitation to allow a reply. Loan Record links do not accept payment reports.
Your record, your decision
Three clear choices.
Record
Create a payment in the record after checking the details.
Match
Link an eligible existing payment, so you do not create a duplicate.
Decline
Leave the report unrecorded. No payment is created.
A report is someone’s account of a payment. It does not send money or verify a bank transaction.
A clear receipt for the recipient
Check the decision.
Refresh the shared view.
After sending a report, the recipient can use Refresh to check its private status and reload the published balance and transactions.
A report can show Recorded or Matched before the statement updates. If the balance has not caught up, refresh again later.
Questions about an existing link or report?Good to know
Live Link questions, answered.
Does the other person need an app or account?
No. The recipient can view the shared balance and, with a reporting invitation, report a payment in a browser on iPhone, Android, or a computer. The owner signs in to manage reporting and reviews reports in the iPhone app.
Does sending a report pay anyone or change the balance?
No. A report does not transfer money, verify a bank payment, or automatically change the balance. The owner reviews it in You Owe Me and chooses Record, Match, or Decline.
Can someone report through a link I already shared?
Previously shared view-only URLs stay view-only. Enable Allow payment reports for that normal balance Live Link, then share the reporting invitation. Reporting is optional for each link; ordinary Live Links continue working.
Do payment reports work for Loan Record links?
No. Payment reports are for normal balance Live Links, not Loan Record links. They describe a payment from the recipient to the owner. The reported amount must be positive and uses the shared balance’s currency.
Does the balance have to be positive?
No. Reporting can be enabled for a normal balance Live Link when the balance is positive, zero, or reversed. The report still describes money paid by the recipient to the owner; it does not reverse direction with the balance.
Why does my report say Recorded but the balance look unchanged?
The owner’s decision and publication of the updated statement are separate. Use Refresh to check your private report status and reload the published balance and transactions. The statement can lag the decision; a report does not settle the balance automatically.
Can the recorded amount or date differ from my report?
Yes. The original reported amount, date, and note stay unchanged, while the owner may record a different amount or date. Report details retain the original values and show different recorded values. Recorded acknowledges the owner’s decision; it does not mirror later edits or deletions of the payment.
How is Live Link different from Balance Sync?
With Live Link, one person maintains the record. The recipient views it in a browser and can report a payment only when invited; the owner still decides what enters the record. Balance Sync lets exactly two app users update supported connected entries from their phones. It requires both users to sign in with Apple.
Who can see the shared statement?
Anyone with the active Live Link can view the published statement, so share it only with the intended person. A reporting invitation also allows payment reports. The recipient checks private report status from the receipt in the browser tab used to send it. It is not published as a status feed on the statement.
For more about shared statements and data, read Privacy & Data. If both people want to edit supported entries, explore Balance Sync.
